The Andrew and Laura McCain Art Gallery in conjunction with
The Buttermilk Creek Fall Festival presents a

Harvest Photo Contest
Sponsored by the Bugle-Observer
CALL FOR ENTRIES
Shutter bugs of all ages are invited to capture the spirit of the autumn harvest in the Saint John River Valley and win some glory in the process. Just stay on the lookout for interesting seasonal images -anything from old-fashioned potato picking to family hay rides to romantic harvest moon-rises- and send your best digital shots in to the first-ever Harvest Photo Contest. Winning submissions will be widely displayed and certificates will be awarded

How to submit entries
The road to photo fame is pretty easy and it's free. Keeping to the theme "autumn harvest", submit your favourite shot to harvestphotocontest@gmail.com by 5pm Thursday 8 September 2011. The images can be artistically manipulated -be creative!- but should be no larger than 500kb in file size (save any higher resolution files, preferably at 300 dpi, in case yours is selected for publication, public display and voting).

Enter as often as you wish but kindly send us your submissions ONE AT A TIME in separate emails. Be sure to include your full name, address and telephone number and, if you wish, a title for the image. Contestants under 16 years of age must obtain the consent of a parent or guardian in order to enter and their images must be submitted by the parent or guardian.

Judging
Submissions will be assessed by a panel of judges to select 10 finalists. These images will be published in the 13 September 2011 issue of the Bugle-Observer and displayed at the Buttermilk Creek Fall Festival on Saturday 17 September in Florenceville-Bristol where the public will be invited to vote for their top three choices. Voting results will be tabulated and the top three entries published in the Bugle-Observer during the week of 19 September and coincidentally displayed at the Andrew and Laura McCain Art Gallery until the end of the month as well as on the Gallery website such as www.mccainartgallery.com.

All finalists will receive a certificate of achievement and, in the case of the top three entries, their prints framed as a keepsake.

The fine print
Contributing photographers retain the intellectual property rights to their own work (which must be original). Submissions may be available and viewed online, reproduced in other media and displayed in other ways such as art shows. The Andrew and Laura McCain Art Gallery reserves the right to use any submitted image for promotional purposes for this and other similar contests in perpetuity with due credit, wherever feasible, to the photographer. The organizer also reserves the right to reject submissions for reasons of relevance to the stated contest theme, taste or quality. All decisions regarding the entries are final. Program details are subject to change.
